Blog Vision Mini Carnival

in General

Carnivals are very popular in the blogosphere. It’s a way for a build a community, foster friendships, share things, and get backlinks. Though it’s more popular among the “Mommy Blogger” crowd, a fellow Niche Blogger member, Ruth at Web Career Girl, decided to organize a mini carnival. Today is her 1 year blogoversary and she thought it would be neat to gather some thoughts on what blogging has meant to her life – how it has changed her world and life. She then asked a bunch of us to do the same.

I decided to write a “blog vision 2010” – sort of a plan for building my business (and income) for the next year. Others wrote about other things. Check out their posts – something might resonate with you and spur you on in your blogging journey.

As a unique way of looking at what blogging really means, a few of us gathered together our thoughts on how blogging can change the world and our individual lives. This is what we came up with:

Can A Blog Change the World?” by Ruth: “Blogging as an opportunity to use your voice for what you truly believe in, changing your world for the better”.

My Blogging Vision” by Lisa: “When I started blogging back in October of 2007, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I’ve seen a lot of changes in my life since then yet my vision for my blog remains the same.”

My Blogging Journey” by Stephen: “Life has been a journey of twists and turns for me. As an introvert it has sometimes been a little bit too stimulating…if life has taught me anything, it is that the world is an amazing place with so many struggles, challenges, opportunities and stories from real people.”

At the Speed of Blog” by Steve: “What I have seen in the way mankind has changed in the form of communication during my lifetime.”

All About Me” by Donny: “All About Me – Well maybe not all. I wanted to take a minute and give everyone a chance to get to know a bit about who I am, how I got here, what I hope to accomplish and why I am looking to Internet Marketing and, more specifically, Niche Blogging for income.”

Turning Dreams Into Goals” by Donna: “For the past year my dream has been to make enough money working online so that both me and my husband could work from home. We have a business that I currently run from home and I wanted to turn that over to him while I created websites.”

Why I Blog and Why I’ll Continue to Blog” by Michelle: Inspired by others who ‘care’, I got to thinking about the world we all live in and how we have this amazing communication channel we know as the World Wide Web: I wondered if by blogging, can I change the world? Here’s some of the thoughts that quickly came to mind”

Blogging to Change the World – My World” by Leslie: “Blogging can be a hobby, something you do for fun. For me, it changed my world for the better. It made my life the dream-life I always envisioned.”

Niche Blogging” by Loren: “Making goals, missing goals and maintaining blogging relationships.”

I had never read your about page Jen – but just read it now. I can definitely understand why blogging means so much to you. It sounds like you really do a great job for your son – I only hope blogging means I can do as much for my own children when I have them :) That is certainly one of the reasons why I want to make a success of this.

I also didn’t realise you’d been a member for that long. 27 sites all making money is fantastic! I only have a few so far. I really love this blog so far, by the way, really helps to make things more understandable and I think you have a good resource in the making. Can’t wait for those themes too!!

Extremely insightful. You have eluded to some of the difficulties you have faced with your son but I was never fully aware of the extent. I had often wondered why someone with your extensive knowledge had chosen this particular avenue, now I understand. Anyone who visits this site and needs ‘real’ help with technical issues, has come to the right place. I know all too well, from first-hand having messed something up, just how helpful you really are…..

Jen, thanks for sharing your blog vision. I loved your comment that “this isn’t Field of Dreams” because that is exactly what I had to get over to make progress.

Jen–I do wish you much success with your ventures. I will be one to testify about your excellent blog services when it comes to your blog themes, html knowledge, and WordPress background. Whenever I needed assistance you were always there and have much knowledge as well. I appreciate all that you do :-)

Jen…I love your journey. Many of us kinda jumped into the deep end and developed a plan to swim after. A steep learning curve is a good tool. It kinda makes it more fun that way.

We are on the same page when it comes to making detailed goals and plans…see your vision through instead. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Love the simple style of your blog. I love minimalism. Looking forward to Juicy Theme’s. I will be back to visit – even though I have formal web design training, the techie stuff frustrates me so if you can alleviate that stress….ahhhhhhhh, feeling better already.

As you can see, I like the creative and “road less taken” side of things. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jen,
You indeed are a busy girl, but you do seem to have a plan of action to make your lifestyle work for you. This is something that many others can not do even under ideal conditions.

Best of luck with everything in your future.

Jen I’ve read this post, your 2010 goals and your about page. You have achieved a great deal and seem to have a fantastic attitude to the situation at hand, I really admire that so much.

We all have so much to offer each other and it can truly make the world go around can’t it. You have some great ideas and genuine services you can provide people, all generated from home, and in turn it can get you a day at the zoo…it’s just perfect. (I know it’s not ‘perfect’, it’s not Field Of Dreams…love that ;) ) but compared to the alternative?…well it’s bloomin’ perfect.

You know I have a good friend who has a son with sensory processing disorder and I think a form of ADHD. She has hunted high and low for answers, solutions, activities etc and has made massive progress. Perhaps you’ve done the same but if you want me to put you in touch with her let me know. I can’t express just how knowledgeable she is (really…you know me I would not say that if she wasn’t), and if you’re looking for someone who probably knows more than the doctors themselves and all the ‘speech therapists’ etc she is your girl…she is so passionate about this subject it’s just mind blowing what she knows about the brain etc. I wonder if this is why I’m here…to put you in touch with her? Who knows. :)

I love your blog and although this is very silly, I love Juicy Coutour, so I already have a soft spot for your up and coming Juicy themes, lol! Love love love the name and the black design etc….you know you’re super cool right? :)

You go girl, I think you could be a big hitter in anything you take on. Looking forward to hearing how your plans come to life over 2010.

PS Give your boy a hug from me…really.
