I’m really loving the improved Squidoo – Squidoo Plus they are calling it. I love earning points & leveling up – put some sort of leveling up system on your site, and I’ll probably hang out! So, I’m trying to work my way up in Squid levels (I’m currently level 30) and I’m still planning on applying for Giant Squid status next time the deadline rolls around – which means I need to make some more lenses (you need at least 50 to be considered for Giant Squid).
One of the things Squidoo has done is add some new “brands” to go with the older one (like SquidoBoo & SquidLit) – SquidPaws has rapidly become my favorite. I’ve only made one SquidPaws lens, but I had fun doing it…and I got Lens of The Day!! There was a contest sort of introducing SquidPaws – make a lens about your pet’s wishlist (a Birthday quest). I made one for my pooch called (very creative name here) “Keyser Soze’s Wishlist.” and got it in just under the wire. It was chosen as LoTD (which was the prize for the contest) on Oct 1, 2010!
It’s a BIG honor to be chosen for LoTD. There are literally hundred of thousands of lenses (ok, there’s over a million), and for 3 days in October, mine was top of the pile. Very exciting! LoTD gets broadcast to a variety of websites, so my lens received quite a bit of traffic – as did my other lenses ( only had 3 at the time – Best Fidget Toys for Sensory Input, Native Japanese Dog Breeds, and Feingold Lunchbox Suggestions. I’ve since added Kung Zhu Pets and Toddler Halloween Costumes for Girls.
So, I now have 6 lenses – 6 down, 44 to go to Giant Squid!
