I’ve been having a lot of fun making a couple of new lenses at Squidoo. I’ve decided to make Squidoo a large part of my online portfolio. To that end, I have a goal of becoming a Giant Squid (at least 50 “really great” lenses) – the next deadline to apply is Dec 31. I only have 9 lenses and 1 in the works, so I’m not sure I will be able to create 40 more lenses in just 31 days. It will be an extra Christmas present if I do make that deadline, but my goal is to make the next dealine. They accept Giant Squids quarterly, so that would be around March – which is doable I think.
To spur myself on to creating more high-quality lenses, I joined the Rocket Moms group. This is a group of moms who are very active on the Internet – most not only make lots of great lenses, but also have blogs and other online businesses. They have “sessions” where members are challenged to make a certain amount of lenses within certain themes in a certain amount of time. Of course, right now the theme is all about Christmas gifts. If you complete 8 lenses within the timeframe, you “graduate” from that session. I just started the current session (a week or so behind everyone else), so by Dec 31, I will hopefully have 8 more lenses towards my Giant Squid goal!
